Hi Dianne--

Please ignore the previous post of this. Apologies, this is the 'correct'
version. Thanks!

Adult: I'll Be - A Forever Knight Interpretation  (1/1)

Disclaimers:  Hi! Besides adult -- (for Nick and Nat implicit sexual themes)--this should
probably go into the 'Mush' pile. (for Nick and Nat implicit 'mushy' themes.) <g>  This is
similar to something I posted a few months ago called 'Kody - A Forever Knight
Interpretation.'  I don't use all the lyrics to the song I'm 'borrowing', just the parts I want
to. <g>

Nick and Nat, woefully, do not belong to me.  They belong to a bunch of people who
obviously don't care about them as much as I do and this is not meant to infringe on any
of their copyrights.  Likewise, the song 'I'll Be' doesn't belong to me either, it belongs to
Edwin McCain and his PTB and by using parts of the song I don't mean to infringe on
their copyrights either.

Permission granted to archive at www.fkfanfic.com and the JADFE archives.
Anyone else, please ask.

I'll Be- A Forever Knight Interpretation
by Shelia Turner
c. June '98

        the strands in your eyes
        that color them wonderful
stop me and steal my breath ...

She gasped.
She couldn't help it.
The gold shimmering in the blue depths was beautiful.
And the look of shame that passed over his face broke her heart.

        and tell me
        that we belong together
        dress it up
with the trappings of love ...

"No!"
She hadn't meant to speak out loud.
To be so angry.
And of course he misunderstood.
"I'm sorry Nat," his voice was tinted with self-loathing and he turned his face away.

        I'll be captivated
        I'll hang from your lips
        instead of the gallows
        of heartache
        that hang from above ...

Nat reached up and took his chin firmly in her hand.
"Nick.  Look at me."
She tugged for emphasis.
Slowly he let himself be turned and looked hesitantly into her eyes.

        and I'll be
        your crying shoulder ...

She wanted to hug him.
She wanted to smack him.
Instead she ran the back of her hand over his cheek and he closed his eyes
leaning into her hand.
It hurt her so, to think he felt so alone.
So unloved.
How could he think he was anything but beautiful?

        I'll be
        love suicide ...

"I love you."
She hadn't meant to say that either.

        and I'll be
        better when I'm older
        I'll be
the greatest fan of your life ...

He looked at her, startled.
And she quickly placed her finger across his lips.
Smiling.
"Yes."
She moved closer.
"You."
He wanted so badly to believe it could be possible.

        and rain falls
        angry on the tin roof
as we lie awake in my bed ...

He reached out, gently stroking the fang marks on her breast.
Marveling at her warmth.
Marveling at her.
"Nat."

        and you're my survival
        you're my living proof
        my love is alive
        and not dead ...

She opened her eyes.
Smiling as she reached up, smoothing back an errant lock of gold from his forehead.
She pulled his head down and whispered against his lips.
"I love you."

        well, I've dropped out
        I've burned up
I've fought my way back from the dead ...

Touching her was like touching fire
This was always how he had imagined the sun would feel.
And Nick blissfully rubbed his cheek against hers as the scent of her blood vibrated
through him.
Exciting and calming the beast
Exciting and calming him.

        I tuned in
        I turned on ...

He kissed her jaw.
Twining his fingers in her chestnut curls as he licked down the curve of her throat.
And a small growl escaped him as she arched upward.
Urging him closer.

remembered the thing that you said...

"I love you."
She gasped, clutching the back of his head.

"I love you."
She promised as he bit her again.

She didn't lie.
Her blood didn't lie.
It never did.
