Blow Up The Outside World
A Forever Knight Interpretation
by Shelia Turner
c. 1998*******
nothing
seems to kill me
no matter how hard I try ...He instinctively braced himself for the pain.
Resolute, Nick stepped into the stream of sunlight that pooled in through
the loft windows.
And he looked like a young god, mantled in nothing but the radiance of the
sun.nothings closing my eyes
nothing can beat me down for your pain
or delight ...The warmth welcomed him,
Embraced him.
And a wordless cry was torn from Nick,
as he fell to his knees.and nothing
seems to break me
no matter how far I fall ...It was gone.
The vampire was gone.
Sobs wracked his body as he fell to his hands.
"Oh! Nat!"nothing can break me at all
not one for giving up ...He knew she was mad at him.
Furious with him.
And it warmed a place in his heart he dare not acknowledge,
that she cared.though not invincible
I know ..."How do you know Nick? Hmm?" she had asked as she pulled the seventh bullet from him. She waved the scalpel a little to close to his face, and he captured both her hands firmly in his. When she stopped struggling, Nick released her hands.
I've given everything I need
I'd give you everything I own ..."Nat, bullets can't hurt me ..."
"Oh?" she answered archly as she poked him where she had just removed the bullet, smiling grimly at his wince. "And what was that?"I'd give in
if it could at least be
ours alone ...He kissed her, and told himself it was only to shut her up.
But his heart knew differently.I've given everything I could
to blow it to hell and gone ...He tried.
Tried to content himself with a chaste kiss.
A friendly kiss.
But he wanted her so badly,
for so very long.
And the warmth of her lips opening in surrender
fueled his barely restrained desire.burrow down in
and blow up the outside world ...He lost himself in her warmth.
Burying his hands deep into her chestnut curls, pulling her closer.
He kissed down the curve of her jaw, tilting her head up and to the side.
Exposing her throat.
Inevitably, the beast rose.
Demanding.nothing can do me in
before I do myself ..."NO!"
Nick roared and tore himself away.
Away from her.
Her and her intoxicating, very mortal warmth.so save it for your own
and the ones you can help ...The vampire keened sharply at its denial.
A growl reverberated through the loft as Nick flew to stand in front of the fireplace.
His back was towards her, but Natalie could see the tension in his shoulders and arms as he gripped the mantle, fingers denting into the wood.
His head was bowed and his voice was husky and slow.
And he sounded so very, very lost.
"Nat, you should go."I've given everything I need
I'd give you everything I own ..."I love you Nick."
Her voice was strong.
Full of conviction.
Conviction, faith,
and hope.I'd give in
if it could at least be
ours alone ...He turned swiftly and snarled.
"Look at me Nat!"
Nick's eyes gleamed, sulfurously amber.
And Natalie could see his fangs,
lethal and so very, very sharp as he continued.
"How can you 'love' this!"I've given everything I could
to blow it to hell and gone ...She stepped towards him.
Her fingers, unhurried, but persistently unbuttoning.
And by the time she had reached him, she had shed her blouse.
Shed her blouse and her bra.want to make it understood
wanting ...Natalie reached up and twined her fingers in his hair, her breasts, soft
and so very warm, pressing against his bare chest.
Fire and ice.
"I love you, Nick." she whispered against his lips. "All of you."
"Let me love you."trying
though I know it's wrong ...He couldn't resist.
How could he?
When he had starved himself so long.
Denied himself so long.blowing it to hell and gone ...
It took only a moment.
Only a moment to shred her skirt and hose,
and rip the jeans from himself.
Then she was under him.Encouraged by the love,
and the trust,
brilliant in her eyes.
Nick claimed her body. And for a moment -
a brief, brief moment...
He thought he could.wishing
though I never could ...He thought he could control it.
Ignore the burning hunger.
Deny the beast its due.Natalie arched her back with his thrusts.
Soft cries of pleasure escaped her parted lips as she threw her head to the side, exposing her neck.
And before he could think, his fangs were already deep in her throat.
Nick claimed her soul. The beast burned.
Nick burned.
And they both screamed as they fell.
Fell into oblivion. He awoke from dreams of fire and rapture, of ice and despair.
His hand tingled curiously.
He turned his head and studied it, lying unprotected in the sunlight.Nick staggered to his feet and looked down.
She was so pale.
And an unexplainable terror gripped his soul.
Uncomprehendingly, he looked down at Natalie, then stumbled into the light streaming in through the loft windows.I've given everything I need
I'd give you everything I own ...He instinctively braced himself for the pain.
"Oh! Nat!" he sobbed.
burrow down in
and blow up the outside world ...Nick crawled over to where Natalie lay on the floor,
and took her in his arms.
Cradling her to his chest, as his tears,
clear and salty,
rained in her hair.fin
