"The Promise"

Janette heard LaCroix and Nicholas arguing in the foyer and decided to 
leave them to it.  She had no stomach for it today. 
 
 
 
"No LaCroix!  I will not!  Staying here with you is not an option," 
Nick said defiantly, as he swiftly turned away from his sire. 
 
 
 
"Nicholas it is only for a short time.  Don't be so 
melodramatic."  LaCroix reached out to place a hand on the younger's 
shoulder, only to have it shook off. 
 
 
 
"LaCroix, you promised me.  You promised we would leave tonight, " Nick 
said morosely as he turned to face his master. 
 
 
 
LaCroix, for his part, leaned in to gently kiss Nick on the lips.  "We 
can go to Disney World next year.  I promise.  Forgive me?" 
 
 
 
"Maybe, but only if we can ride the ferry." 
 
 
 
Laughing, LaCroix replied, "Nicholas you ARE a fairy." 
 
 
 
"That's hitting below the belt, LaCroix." 
 
 
 
LaCroix smiled, "Don't I always?"
